Revamping American National Security for the 21st Century
Military Briefing Book-May 18, 2009
"(Sacramento, CA) America has been involved in counter-insurgency operations since 2003. But you would never know it with the national security community stuck in the past. A current national security strategy needs to be adopted that empowers all elements of U.S. national power. This is the theme of the latest article by U.S. Marine John Ubaldi.
Ubaldi, a U.S. Marine of 25 years with recent tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and owner of Military Briefing Book, wrote “Why Civilian Intervention is Essential in Post Stability Operations.
“There’s a need to overhaul the entire National Security apparatus from the antiquated Cold War relic that now exists,” said Ubaldi. “The United States needs to reform its national security structure, have a designated unity of command in stability operations, and finally integrate civilian agencies into the military command structure.”
He adds, “Only then will we have the national security structure in place that focuses on the complex challenges of the 21st century.”
